Dear Member,
For the past 25 years, SID has been championing good governance and uplifting the directorship profession. One way we have been doing so is by developing and delivering meaningful professional development programmes of high quality and impact.
As the Institute expands its remit to serve directors across a full spectrum of organisations, it is developing new programmes to address the varied learning needs of directors. Last month, the Subsidiary Board Director Fundamentals programme was launched to provide subsidiary board directors with an understanding of the unique governance issues in boards of subsidiary and joint venture companies. Book your place here, for the next run on 16 May 2023.
The Institute has also launched its flagship Board Readiness Programme,
designed to equip leaders with the essential knowledge, skills and
mindset to be board-ready. Check out the coverage the programme received
in the Business Times and on Channel NewsAsia.
With the first run organised in
collaboration with the Singapore Computer Society’s Women in Tech
Chapter, and supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, the
programme aims to strengthen the pipeline of board-ready women with tech
and digital expertise. If you serve on a board that is looking to
enhance its diversity as well as digital literacy, register your interest and be the first to engage with this cohort of board-ready directors.
The Institute is also intensifying its
efforts to help directors stay current in areas such as ESG and Digital.
In response to member demand, SID is now conducting bespoke board
training programmes for members’ boards to help enhance their
effectiveness. Later this year, we will be rolling out an accreditation
framework that will communicate clearly the competencies required of
accredited directors. Watch this space for more details!
SID has adopted the theme of #GovernanceForGood for
our 25th anniversary. We believe that good governance enables
organisations, people and society to thrive, and it is in our collective
interest to keep pushing the bar higher. As we refresh our commitment
to our mission, here are three ways you can help champion the cause:
|
- Hone your skills as a director by committing to your own professional development (and give us feedback so we can continually improve).
- Refer fellow board directors and leaders to join us as members and become part of the SID directorship community – there is strength in numbers.
- Follow SID on LinkedIn and share our posts (or this newsletter!) to help amplify the importance of good governance.
|
As the adage goes, “if you want to go far, go together”. Join us, so together we can take good governance even further.
Yours in directorship,
Su-Yen and Terence
P.S. Save the date for the annual Golf Tournament (9 June 2023), SID Directors Conference (20 September 2023) and our inaugural Members’ Gala (30 November 2023).
