HIGHLIGHTS

Dear Members,

Last month saw us marking two significant initiatives.

We launched the SID Director Accreditation programme with Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the
Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development as our Guest-of Honour. Watch the highlights of the commemoration event attended by 250 guests and the fireside chat with Minister Indranee moderated by SID immediate past chair Wong Su-Yen.

This landmark initiative aims to uplift the directorship profession in Singapore. The accreditation
exam kicks off in October at a special rate of S$150 (usual price S$250). Check out the accreditation page for details on how to prepare for this accreditation exam.

We also launched the Fellows Network at the Fellows Evening supported by KPMG. The newly-formed network helmed by SID Fellow and former Council Member Robert Chew aims to connect
SID Fellows and rally them to contribute to the Institute through a variety of initiatives.

In the meantime, we continue to add value to your membership through our resources, training and networks. To help us improve our offerings, please take a few minutes of your time to let us know what you would like to see more (or less) of from our range of courses and activities. Do send in your feedback in our annual membership survey which closes on 14 June.

Advancing thought leadership

With sustainability reporting requirements evolving to standards aligned with IFRS Sustainability
Disclosure Standards issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) from FY2025, our upcoming SID Directors Bulletin on Sustainability Redux features articles by ACRA and others on various aspects of climate reporting. Look out for our Q3 2024 issue coming out this month.

SGX recently closed its public consultation on proposed amendments to the SGX Listing Rules and the Sustainability Reporting Guide to incorporate ISSB Standards amidst growing scrutiny and pressure on businesses to disclose their impacts and efforts to manage issues around sustainability. Sign up for our Climate Governance Singapore Forum on 31 July to learn more about what boards can do to advance climate governance. And save the date for our next instalment of the Singapore Governance and Transparency Forum on 1 August where we look at how listed companies are coping with climate disclosures.

Building competencies

We are pleased to announce the next rounds of the SID Listed Entity Director (LED) programme in July and October comprising five core modules on the roles and responsibilities of directors, board dynamics, board performance, stakeholder engagement and environmental, social and governance essentials. Another four elective modules cover the work involved with the main committees of a listed board (audit, risk, nominating and remuneration).

A complimentary box set of Corporate Governance Guides for Boards in Singapore (retailing at
S$295) will be given to participants who sign up and pay upfront for all modules by 30 July 2024.

SID is also launching the inaugural Chair Accelerator Programme to prepare experienced directors to take on the role of the chair. The preview session will be held on 14 June and is by-invitation only. Email: [email protected] to register your interest or nominate someone to be invited for the interview.

Connecting the ecosystem

Our networking calendar is packed with exciting events. Join us on 12 July for a day of golf. Our
Guest-of-Honour Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of Parliament, will grace the occasion. Whether you form a flight or participate individually, our annual golf tournament promises great opportunities for networking and camaraderie.

Looking ahead, sign up or mark your calendars for our upcoming events, including the Women Directors Chapter’s next instalment of the Up Close and Personal series on 11 July and the Nominating and Remuneration Committee Seminar on 11 September. These events seek to provide insights and foster discussions on the latest trends and practices in corporate governance.

We are committed to supporting you with exclusive research, informative articles and training and
networking opportunities. Together, let’s continue to drive excellence in directorship and corporate governance.

Yours in directorship,

Yeoh Oon Jin, FSID
Chair, SID
