Governance for Outstanding Organisation Directors (SGOOD)

The Governance for Outstanding Organisation Directors (SGOOD) Programme is designed and developed around the learning needs of board members of nonprofit organisations, this holistic and comprehensive programme caters to the needs of directors at various stages of their directorship journey.

SGOOD Fundamentals features a programme which is targeted at aspiring and new directors of nonprofit organisations. It offers an overview of the nonprofit environment and the key considerations of joining a nonprofit board.

SGOOD Essentials comprises eight structured modules which go beyond the basic compliance requirements of a nonprofit director to provide an understanding of the various aspects of a nonprofit organisation and good governance practices which are important.  The SGOOD Essentials series is developed in collaboration with the Social Service Institute, a division of the National Council for Social Service.

SGOOD Current Topics is a series of workshops with panel discussions on trending issues in the nonprofit sector. It takes a deep dive on specific topics that are of concern and distinct to directors serving on the boards of nonprofit organisations. Hosted by SID, the format of the session depends on the topic and the partner organisations, if any.

NonProfit Leaders Conversations features regulators and thought leaders presenting on current topics and events followed by panel discussions and a questions and answers segment on related issues. Regulatory developments, good governance of charities and nonprofit organisations are the focus of these events.

STAR Programme for SGOOD Alumni
The STAR (Sense. Transform. Affirm. Reflect) Programme is offered in collaboration with the Centre for Non-Profit Leadership (CNPL) and supported by Tote Board for SGOOD Alumni. Designed by CNPL for non-profit leaders, this programme aims to help new Board Members & Executive Directors find their ground in the organisation through structured training in board directorship skills and/or leadership skills through practical guidance by an experienced mentor.

Further information on each of the courses are provided in the following pages. SGOOD Essentials modules have either been pre-approved for VWOs-Charities Capability Fund (VCF) training grant or are pending approval from the National Council of Social Service. All exempt, registered charities and Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs) can apply for VCF funding.
