Advancing board excellence

Dear Members,

March has been a month of engaging dialogue and practical learning, reinforcing SID’s commitment to advancing excellence in board leadership.

Recent engagements

Our inaugural Chairpersons Guild Forum explored how chairs can steward value creation, set the tone for effective boards and adapt governance in volatile times. The SID-KPMG Post Budget Insights session drew 200 participants, followed by the Money FM 89.3 SG Budget Conversations panel discussion.

In parallel, the Accredited Directors Series examined the chair’s role in effective board reviews, while the Women Directors Chapter workshop added depth with candid exchanges on diversity and the need to move beyond the ‘CV trap’ to focus on aptitude and critical thinking. The Nominating and Remuneration Committee Pit-stop provided practical perspectives on CEO pay, succession and evolving board skills, highlighting the growing importance of people risk and culture in governance.

Director development pathways

Our flagship, Listed Entity Director Programme completed its first run of the year with 1,100 participants. The programme continues to evolve with LED 10: Board Strategy for Value Up now open for registration. Eligible SGX-listed companies may tap the MAS/SGX Value-Unlock Equip Grant for up to 50% funding for this training programme. Directors who have completed all 9 modules can apply for the Qualified Listed Entity Director Badge

For nonprofit leaders, SGOOD 2.0 offers hybrid learning with funding support tied to the 7 May session. For this final session of the 2025/26 cohort, a limited SGOOD x NonProfit Membership Bundle Package is also available for nonprofit organisations that are not yet SID Corporate Members, combining SID membership with programme access for two participants. For those looking to explore the nonprofit sector and take a first step into the space, SGOOD Lite is also available as a self-paced, on-demand e-learning option with 16 CPD hours (available until 19 June 2026).

Aspiring directors can explore the Board Readiness Programme (BRP) 2.0 which blends flexible online modules with facilitated in-person sessions including mentorship. Learn more here or watch this video.

The SID Director Accreditation Programme remains a structured pathway to strengthen governance expertise, with the April exam open for registration. Accredited directors planning renewal or building CPD hours can join our upcoming CPD Clinic.

Events ahead

We are pleased to announce the SID Directors Conference 2026 – New Game, New Rules: Do Boards Need a Reset? will be held on 28 August. This year’s conference will explore how boards can recalibrate in a fractured world. Super early bird registrations are now open for members.

Our Current Topics Series will host two webinars in April: The Middle East Crisis: What Boards Need to Know Now on 6 April will offer timely perspectives on risk oversight and strategy, and Sustaining ESG Momentum: The Critical Role of Directors (supported by Corporate Governance Singapore) on 30 April will highlight how directors can challenge management constructively, prevent governance complacency, and align ESG strategy with long-term performance.

In addition, SID’s Silver Jubilee Golf Tournament will be held on 22 May at Sentosa Golf Club, offering members a chance to connect in a more informal setting while celebrating SID’s milestone year.

International programmes

The Vietnam-Singapore Board Forum 2026 in June will bring ASEAN directors together for dialogue and collaboration, combining site visits with board-level roundtables. In addition, the SJTU-SID-Emeritus Advanced Global Directors Programme offers an immersive two-month journey across Singapore and China (May-June 2026), designed to deepen global board perspectives and equip directors to navigate complex international environments. Both programmes provide unique opportunities to strengthen cross-border networks and gain insights into governance challenges beyond Singapore.

In case you missed it, SID is offering one complimentary board listing to all organisations until 31 December 2026. Reach out to us for more details. Corporate Members will continue to enjoy four complimentary listings per year as part of their membership benefits.

We encourage you to explore upcoming opportunities and continue building momentum in your governance journey – stay connected.
