The SGOOD (Governance for Outstanding Organisation Directors) 2.0 Programme provides nonprofit organisation board members with the necessary governance tools to lead with confidence. Developed in collaboration with the National Council of Social Service, it is part of GovernWell: Excellence in Charity Leadership, an initiative launched by the Commissioner of Charities and Charity Council.

Governance for Outstanding Organisation Directors (SGOOD) Lite Programme

The Governance for Outstanding Organisation Directors (SGOOD) 2.0 Programme, developed by the Singapore Institute of Directors in collaboration with the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), is a comprehensive two-part initiative designed to empower current and aspiring board members of nonprofit organisations (NPOs). 

As the foundational stage of this journey, the SGOOD Lite Programme constitutes Part 1 of the full SGOOD 2.0 Programme. Delivered through e-Learning, SGOOD Lite provides participants with a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities as nonprofit directors, while equipping them with the tools and insights to make values-driven, future-ready decisions that support long-term impact. Part 2 of the SGOOD 2.0 Programme is conducted through an in-person learning session. 

IMPORTANT NOTICE
The SGOOD Lite Programme covers only Part 1: e-Learning Modules of the full SGOOD 2.0 Programme. It does not represent the complete training pathway and is not eligible for support  under the CCF Training Grant. 

 

The SGOOD 2.0 Programme is part of GovernWell: Excellence in Charity Leadership, an initiative launched by the Commissioner of Charities and Charity Council to to strengthen governance and leadership in the nonprofit sector.

Course objectives

  • Address the learning needs of aspiring nonprofit directors, preparing them to take on governance responsibilities in nonprofit organisations (NPOs).
  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit governance, equipping aspiring directors with the knowledge, strategies and best practices needed to contribute to effective leadership and organisational sustainability.
  • Introduce practical and strategic approaches to governance, enabling aspiring directors to strengthen board effectiveness and enhance the impact of NPOs.

Target audience

This programme is intended primarily for aspiring NPO board directors who wish to understand or familiarise themselves with the fundamentals of the NPO landscape and governance responsibilities.

Participants who are eligible for the CCF Training Grant and wish to undertake the full SGOOD training pathway are advised to register for the full SGOOD 2025/26 Programme instead. Click here for more details.

Programme outline

SGOOD Lite: 10 e-Learning Modules
Access Period: From Date of Registration to 19 June 2026, 12:00PM

The SGOOD Lite programme comprises 10 e-Learning modules (8 core modules, plus a Foundational and Futures module) designed to address key governance challenges and opportunities faced by board directors of NPOs. View module details here (refer to part 1: e-Learning Modules).

Each module is delivered asynchronously and consists of three video segments, followed by a quiz to assess understanding.

Upon successful registration and check-out, registrants will receive an email with instructions to access the e-Learning Portal.

Programme instructions

  • Participants are required to watch each video in full for the system to track completion.
  • Each module concludes with a 10-question quiz and participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass.
  • Participants may attempt the quiz multiple times if needed. A module will only be marked as complete once participants have watched all videos and passed the quiz.
  • CPD hours will not be awarded partially. Participants must complete all 10 e-Learning modules before the system awards the full 16 CPD hours.

 Registrants who successfully complete SGOOD Lite (equivalent to Part 1: e-Learning Modules of the SGOOD 2.0 Programme) may choose to proceed to Part 2: the SGOOD In-Person Session, available from July 2026 onwards, to fulfil the completion requirements for the full SGOOD 2.0 Programme

Registrants are required to complete all e-Learning modules no later than 19 June 2026, 12:00PM to receive CPD hours and a Statement of Achievement. No extensions will be granted.
