The Nomination Committee is at the forefront of this transformation, tasked with the critical role of identifying, selecting, and nurturing leadership talent that can steer non-profit entities through these turbulent times. Join us, as we explore how boards in the nonprofit sector can gear up and be prepared to address evolving issues related to environmental, social and governance matters, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and cyber security. Participants will engage in deep discussions about reshaping board composition, innovating talent acquisition, and fostering leadership development to thrive amid disruption.

SPEAKERS

 

Ooi Huey Tyng
Council Member, Singapore Institute of Directors

Ms Ooi Huey Tyng is the Chair of the Nominating and Remuneration Committee Chapter at SID and an independent director on multiple boards. She has over 30 years of experience in senior positions at global banks, leading payments technology provider and fintech. She serves on board of AIG Asia Pacific Insurance where she chairs the risk management committee and serves on the audit committee and nomination committee. She is also an independent director of Maxis and serves on the audit and risk committee, transformation committee and remuneration committee. She is a member of the Board of Governors of Raffles Institution. Ms Ooi was the Regional Managing Director, Head of GrabPay and served as nominee director on a number of GrabPay and GrabInsure joint venture company boards. Before joining Grab, she was Visa’s Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei and held senior leadership positions at Citibank, DBS and UOB.



Alvin Tan
Founder and Executive Director, Acumen Cybersecurity

Mr Alvin Tan is the founder and Executive Director of Acumen Cybersecurity, a consultancy firm that assists cybersecurity organizations with their Asia Pacific strategy. With nearly 30 years of experience in the information technology and cybersecurity industry, Mr Tan has supported organizations through their digital transformation and cybersecurity journeys. As cybersecurity increasingly becomes a board-level issue, Mr Tan completed the INSEAD International Directors Program, earning the certificate in Corporate Governance (IDP-C) and becoming an SID Accredited Director. Mr Tan taught the “Understanding Business Security Solutions” module at the National University of Singapore's Advanced Computing for Executives program. Prior to Acumen Cybersecurity, Mr Tan was Vice President at Tanium and held senior roles at Palo Alto Networks and McAfee.



Sandra Lim
Managing Director, Verian


Ms Sandra Lim, the Managing Director of Verian (formerly Kantar Public), boasts over 20 years of expertise in policy and social research consulting. Sandra is actively engaged in the research industry and previously held the position of President at the Market Research Society Singapore (MRSS). She also imparts knowledge through training at institutions like Republic Polytechnic and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP). Beyond her professional roles, Sandra is committed to community building, advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and serves as a  board advisor at Ecoworks and board member at the Caregiving Welfare Association (CWA).



Edwin Yeo
Lead for BoardMatch and Advisory, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre

Mr Edwin Yeo is the Lead for BoardMatch and Advisory at the Centre for Non-Profit Leadership at National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. He serves on the boards of nonprofit organisations such as the Global Cultural Alliance and the Volleyball Association Singapore. He is past chairman and a co-founding member of Changing Minds. Mr Yeo has performed executive search since 1999, and held general management positions at a number of businesses across industries. He has experience in technical sales at various multinational companies.



Kevin Chua
Chief Human Resources Officer, United World College South East Asia (UWCSEA)

Mr Kevin Chua is the Chief Human Resources Officer of the United World College South East Asia. He previously served as Chief People Officer at National University of Singapore. In these executive roles, he engaged extensively with board-level committees on human resources (HR) and nomination matters. He serves on the HR Committee at the Singapore Christian Home, and the Counselling and Care Centre, and is also an Accredited Director with SID. Prior to his move to the education sector, Mr Chua was a senior HR leader in global and APAC HR roles for Fortune 500 companies in industries spanning across medical technology, pharmaceutical and energy; as well as in Singapore public service.



Tamara Singh
Founding Director, WhoWhatWhere Pte Ltd

Ms Tamara Singh collaborates extensively across industries to enhance the financial ecosystem through sustainable business practices. As a venture builder for a bank, she focuses on designing and developing scalable solutions for financial systems. Ms Singh is a champion of corporate transition towards attainment of the UN sustainable development goals. She was appointed sherpa to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation’s (APEC) Asia-Pacific Financial Forum (APFF) Sustainable Finance Development Network and former ambassador for the G20 SME Finance Forum. She holds board positions at Conjunct Consulting and Advancement for Rural Kids, coaches leaders and advises startups on sustainability and scalability. She is a Fellow of ESSEC's iMagination Center at the Business School Cergy-Pontoise Campus and a leadership coach at INSEAD. 




Shai Ganu
Council Member, Singapore Institute of Directors

Mr Shai Ganu is the global leader of the Executive Compensation and Board Advisory business at WTW. He leads a team of over 500 consultants across 40 countries, who advise clients on issues related to board and executive compensation, board effectiveness, ESG and sustainability strategies, diversity equity, and inclusion, and human capital governance. He has extensive experience working with boards, remuneration committees, nomination committees and sustainability committees of more than 100 leading companies across the region. Mr Ganu is an independent director on the boards of leading companies and not-for-profit organisations. He is a member of the global governing board of Climate Governance Initiative and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance community of experts. He is the chair of the ESG committee at Singapore Institute of Directors, and committee member at BoardAgender
