PSP 3 - How Search Firms Work in Board Selection

As board governance continues to evolve amid disruption, transformation, and heightened stakeholder expectations, companies are becoming increasingly intentional in how they identify, assess, and appoint directors.  This closed-door session brings together board directors and executive search leaders to explore how organisations approach board selection today — including the role of nominating and remuneration committees, the criteria companies prioritise, how search firms support the process, and what successful board appointments look like for both organisations and board candidates.  We welcome existing directors who wish to better understand the best practices in board effectiveness reviews, succession planning and attracting the best board candidates, as well as aspiring directors who wish to gain insights on the evolving expectations of board members.

Participants will gain perspectives on:

  • How companies identify board capability gaps and succession needs
  • What organisations look for in board candidates today
  • Why boards engage executive search firms in director appointments
  • How search firms evaluate and match board talent
  • What aspiring directors can do to strengthen their board profile and readiness
  • What successful board appointments look like from both company and candidate perspectives

This session will also provide participants the opportunity to connect with NRC Chairs, fellow directors and senior search executives.

Note: In line with venue requirements, photography and videography are not allowed at this event.
