This introductory session frames why strategy is a more pronounced board duty than ever before. Participants are introduced to the four-dimensional board perspective: creating value, eradicating/mitigating value disruption, unlocking value, and accelerating value creation.
The webinar also unveils JP Wilson's proprietary “Ascend” strategy model and outlines how it anchors two subsequent programmes – a half-day intensive on the board's role in strategy formulation, with particular emphasis on value unlocking, and a full-day Strategy Masterclass spanning all four dimensions, culminating in a boardroom dialogue on strategy with a Chairman.
Course Objectives
- Recognise the global disruptions reshaping the enterprise — geopolitical, technological, capital, and stakeholder – and their implications for strategy formulation.
- Articulate why strategy is a board responsibility, distinguishing the board's role from management's in setting and stewarding strategic direction.
- Map the four dimensions of the board's strategic role – Value Unlocking, Value Creation, Value Disruption, and Value Acceleration – and apply them as a diagnostic lens to their own directorships.
- Get oriented to JP Wilson's "Ascend" model as a structured framework for board-level strategy.
