CHAIR & CEO MESSAGE

Dear Member,

If you were one of the 800 attendees at the 25th anniversary edition of our flagship SID Directors Conference a couple of weeks ago, you will know that it was a blast. Engaging conversations and useful insights abounded, with 30 concurrent sessions curated across six interactive zones featuring more than 100 speakers, panellists, moderators and presenters. A big thank you to the many sponsors, partners, speakers and members who contributed to its success!

If you missed the Conference, do look out for our first-ever 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner on 30 November. This is a not-to-be missed celebration to wrap up a memorable year. Registration is now open. Take advantage of our limited, early bird specials (ending 20 October). Buy an individual ticket or even better, buy a table and celebrate with your acquaintances.

The month of October also features several highlight events:

  • Singapore Directorship Report 2023 - this biennial research into the state of directorship in Singapore will culminate in a seminar on 18 October. All attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the report worth $150 covering hot button issues ranging from directorship tenure to remuneration disclosures.

  • Corporate Governance Roundup 2023 - informally touted as a crash course on key topics of the year that concern directors, this popular seminar returns on 26 October, stringing together a slate of 10-minute presentations covering current topics including sustainability, digital trends, generative AI, charities and nonprofit governance, and more.

  • Annual General Meeting 2023 - all members are invited to this important meeting where we will share the highlights of Financial Year 2022-23 as well as elect members of the SID Governing Council.

As we enter the final quarter of 2023, we urge you to end the year on a high note. There is no better time to upgrade your knowledge or skills through one of SID’s courses. If you aim to complete the Listed Entity Director programme before the end of the year, do sign up for the modules in October as the next run will be in 2024. Members looking to attain “Qualified Listed Entity Director” status can register for the assessment taking place this month and next. As well, eligible members can look out for an invitation from SID to apply for their “Accredited Director” or “Senior Accredited Director” credentials.

October is also a good time for membership renewal. Here’s a cheat sheet on how to continue maximising the value of your membership. We have also made adjustments to our corporate membership plans to enable more board directors and senior leaders to benefit from being part of the governance community. Write to [email protected] to enquire.

We look forward to welcome you and together, celebrate our achievements, rekindle old acquaintances and forge new connections.

Yours in directorship,

Su-Yen and Terence
